Lifeline Feb. 7th UPDATE

What another GREAT trip to Lifeline. The mix of faith and fun can't be beat! Several students have commented, "I can't believe how much fun this is...I should have been going all year long!"

Lifeline trips occur every first Saturday of each month October-May. We board a bus from Holy Spirit Church with high school students from all over Rochester (and beyond!) We travel to the NET Center in West St. Paul where we enjoy live music, Mass, powerful speakers, snacks, dancing, and fun! Afterwards we stop at a local pizza place for a bite to eat before heading back to Rochester. We return to Holy Spirit Church by about Midnight.
Lifeline is a great way to experience lively, Catholic worship with other teens who are excited about and want to be encouraged in their faith. The experience of Catholic Community is amazing!
March 7th is our LAST trip to Lifeline this year. Popple will be putting on a concert and it is sure to be a good time!
If you haven't made it out to a Lifeline trip this year--I encourage you to join us next year. This is a great opportunity, once a month to have fun, be challenged and hang out with other Catholic teens. Join us!

Austin Youth Rally: UPDATE

Here is a video of Tony Melendez performing at the Austin Youth Rally:

We joined a group from Holy Spirit Parish and a total of 15 people to attend the 7th and 8th Grade Junior High Youth Rally in Owatonna, MN on Sunday November 9th. We had a great time! We were joined by about 300 other youth from the surounding area parishes.
The event began with some crazy mixer games that everyone participated in! We listened to Tony and his band perform. The performance included electic guitar and drum solos by members of his band! We heard about Tony's story of hope and miracles. He challenged us all to be open to our faith and to dream big dreams! We celebrated Mass, ate pizza, and enjoyed a dance to end the night.
Overall, this was a great event! Join us next year.

Cardboard Box City UPDATE

We raised almost $400 to benefit the homeless community of Rochester!
(and we had a GREAT time doing it!)

We had fun trying to build our houses. It was a challenge in the cold--but we did it! We used duct tape, tarps, boxes and anything else we could think of to put our houses together!

There was a live drum band with great music and choreography! It really was a small "cardboard box city." There were houses big and small, all different shapes and colors.

The next morning we spent some time thinking about the cold, uncomfortable night we had. We thought about those who don't have options. We were challenged to think of ways that we can show our faith in our everyday lives.

Check out the gathering space this weekend to see more pictures and a display of this event!

Get in on the service and fun---join us in 2009!
