Souper Bowl 2010

Here is an update of our Super Bowl of Caring Event written by one of our student participants:

"Last weekend, some of the youth of St. Francis Church pitched in to help those in need. The service we were supporting was called the Souper Bowl of Caring, a national event occurring during the Super Bowl weekend. All of the donations will help feed kids, adults, and families in the Rochester and surrounding community.

On February 6th our group asked patrons who walked through the doors of Hobby Lobby if they would donate money to the Channel One Food Bank. Most would give us a couple dollars, some coins, or even 20-dollar bills. We received many compliments on volunteering our services for such a great cause.

The combined total from all the groups who donated their time at Hobby Lobby and after mass at St. Francis Church earned over $1,000 for Channel One. Now that’s a lot!

We would like to thank the parishioners for their support and donations for the Souper Bowl and I would also like to thank Hobby Lobby for giving us their space to help out for a wonderful cause."

-Anna Haggerty, 9th grader, Pine Island High School

Thanks, Anna for a great summary! Our youth collected donations, are volunteering at Channel One, and helped with promotion of this event. Great work everyone!
