- LifeLine - March 3rd - Although early registration is closed, spots are STILL available! Price has gone up to $10 for the concert, however. So total bus+concert = $20.00. It will be worth it! (Contact Matthew for details!)

- City Wide High School Lock-In - March 9th @ Pax Christi Youth Center - 8:30pm - 1:00am
 Cost: $20. Call a friend or two and come for great music, food, service projects, games, inflatables, and dancing and prayer!  To register, get a registration form from your youth minister OR! Click here. : ) Be there!  (Make checks payable to St. Francis of Assisi Parish)


-trutH Mass - Again, over at Pax Christi - The next trutH Mass will be Feb 25th at 5:15pm. This is a Mass geared for middle and high school students and families.  This month, the Lourdes Liturgical Choir will lead the music, and after Mass, Bob Barlett will be speaking.  He is a nationally known speaker from the Twin Cities who has a powerful message about relationships, love, chastity, and intimacy. Teens and adults alike will definitely benefit from this!

Back in Action!

Hello! This is Matthew Edens, the recently hired Youth Ministry Coordinator!

After a break of a few months, this blog is back in action! I hope to continue to use it to inform you all of upcoming events, post about how events went, and maybe just for some fun things as well. :)

Speaking of events!! There are some great opportunities coming up!

February 19th - Next weekend!! On Sunday, the youth group will meet at Valentino's for a pizza lunch at noon o'clock! After the meal, and possibly some discussion about the Pope, we will head over to the Rec Center across the street for ice skating until 3pm.  Cost is $3.00 to skate, $2.00 to rent if you don't have your own.  A few dollars to help with the pizza cost would be appreciated as well. Be there! (Forms are in the Gathering Space)

March 3rd - LifeLine Mass and Concert with Danielle Rose.  You don't want to miss this one! Danielle Rose is a Catholic recording artist from our own Minnesota! She has toured the world with her music, performing for groups as small as 10-15 people, to as large as thousands at World Youth Day! So come enjoy her music with hundreds of other 7-12 graders from throughout Minnesota.  Cost is $10.00 for the bus(which leaves from Holy Spirit Church at 3:30pm), and $7.00 for the concert ticket. High School Youth Council Sponsored:

Advent Angel Tree Wrapping Party!

Who: Grade 6 – Grade 12

When: December 16^th 6-9PM

Where: St. Francis of Assisi Saint Clare Room

Cost: $5 (for pizza)

**Get advent angel off the tree in the gathering space, buy the gift and bring it to the party unwrapped with the angel you took off the tree. Wrapping paper will be supplied.**

We will be wrapping our presents, watching the movie Prancer, and eating pizza!!!

Fall Kickoff

On October 29th, fifteen people gathered in the Activities room for the annual Fall Kickoff. We started the event by decorating pumpkins, and touring the resource room. We learned whom the donations we had brought that evening were helping. After Father said prayer, we ate a meal of chili, and began bobbing for apples. Following many laughter-inducing minute to win-it games, the winners of the costume and pumpkin decorating contests were announced. Thanks for all who came-it was tons of fun!

Youth Ministry Change

 Dear Families of St. Francis Youth Group,

I am writing to you to today to let you know that I will not be returning to work after my maternity leave at St. Francis.  Tyler and I have thought and prayed about this decision and we have decided that it would be best if I stayed home full time to take care of our two boys.

This decision has not come easily and please trust that I will very much miss working with all of you in preparing your families for Confirmation.  Thank you for your participation and fellowship!

Fall Kickoff

The St. Francis High School Youth Council (HSYC) will host this fall event for any youth interested in grades 6-12.  There will be pumpkin carving/decorating, costume contest, good food and snacks and minute to win it games!  Last year we had about 30 youth participate in this FUN event to kickoff the youth ministry year--lets have another great event this year!

Well, the newest Crawford decided to make his way a little early! 

Joshua Aiden Crawford was born on Saturday, 9-10-11 
at 6:50 pm. 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 inches. We're all doing well!

School Supplies Drive: UPDATE!

And the winning team is...

Middle School!

The Middle School Team earned 33,995 points over the high school team bringing in 24, 931 points!!! Great job to both teams! The running start drive is now sorting and distributing all the collected supplies and will be distributing to families in need throughout the rest of the month of August. Here is what we collected:

2 backpacks

94 folders

103 notebooks

44 glue sticks and glue bottles

 319 pencils

 213 pens

52 Packs of crayons, markers, colored pencils and watercolors

That's not counting scissors, erasers, loose-leaf paper, rulers, binders, other supplies,

 and some very generous monetary donations!

Abigail Thompson helped to organize and pack up all the supplies before it was sent over to the Running Start Program at United Way. 

Thank you to all youth and adults who donated and participated in this program!
